I always wondered about never ending inspiration when it comes to music. That touch of a genius that comes once or maybe twice in a lifetime.
What about when this follows you in every act of your creation?
Michael Jackson
If there is one artist that broke the barrier of time and culture, that is Michael Jackson. I tried to find one single song that isn’t a HIT. Unsuccessful. Every single piece is wearing his spirit. Every note is put to inspire. Countless videos or concert productions that underline this unique brand impossible to duplicate.
ABBA
Same as above, any song that they release is known around the world. The 70s and 80s disco music would’ve been so different without them. I had the chance to visit Sweden once. And I understood why every chord in their music is so powerful even though it is simple. When you’re brought up in a country where people are beautiful inside out it’s so easy to express it in music.
The Beatles
The wonder kids of Britain, the revelation of America. What is to add to those things that many wrote about them? That every single one of their songs is famous? Famous today as they were in the 60s, or 70s, or 80s… They are regarded as the most influential band of all time. That’s not easy to accomplish. The simplicity of their music says it all. What can I say? Less is more.
Frank Sinatra
In his case it is about the voice. Any song that has turned into a hit because of that unique singing vibration that inspires and it’s so engaging. I guess his acting skills flourished in songs. And every song he sang, HE made it famous. One that I really like would be “My way”.
Mozart
We talk about his music like a tabu. Even if we don’t know the piece, we recognize the style. Each of his compositions are like sculptures waiting to be found in stone. No complications, just revelations. They say he simply put on paper what he already composed in his mind. Pure inspiration.
Edith Piaf
… when the voice makes the song. And very rare,.. when the voice is inimitable. Recognizable. If we add the passion of her singing, we understand why any release it’s still considered unique and most appreciated. Some artists are like that. It shouldn't come as a surprise.
Elvis Aaron Priestley
This is why he’s the King. Take any song and you’ll find that you know it. Heard it some place or in some movie. Or even better, as a cover approach for many artists. If rock’n roll is no longer in fashion, he still is. See Las Vegas.
Luciano Pavarotti
His voice. The perfect instrument. Perfect technique. And…unmistakable.
It’s like everything he touched in his vocal approach, turned to gold. Why everything he released is still part of collections. The unique ones that make history.
I should think of more.
But then again I’m open to ideas.
